I think it's too late in the day to start out EVE now. It has a seamless world, and complicated politics. Starting out now with so many players having established a role for themselves will be tough. I played it for a few months in 2006 but quit after The Burning Crusade was released.

I agree with Anarkii.
I already played EVE and can already fly HACs and have a hangar full of several battleships, frigates, transporters and stuff like that, even after giving most of it to my corporation.
New players now start out with more skills, which is necessary, the universe is constantly progressing and some old players are insanely rich, and not only rich but also powerful. EVE is at its heart very economy oriented.
But I would really love to see my ships with the new client - they overhauled all graphics, and EVE was already quite pretty. I am not sure if they also overhauled their interface, not really up to date anymore.
This summer, CCP will bring EVE into the Empyrean Age. The four major Empires of EVE have broken their long-standing peace and are marshalling their forces for war. The outcome hinges on the actions of the galaxy's immortal pod pilots, allowing players to direct the course of the conflict.
Sounds so good, but I doubt I have enough time to be more than fragbait. I was always a mission runner, not a roid sucker or pirate.

Despite the myriad problems with AoC, I think I'm going to buy it anyway. I have one burning question though.
Does the game come with one month of subscription? I've seen people talk about a "free month."

From someone I know on another board:
Quote:
Up until level 30-40, the game appears to be like the golden god of MMO's, absolutely pristine and amazing - especially 1-20 where you're in Tortage, which rivals a single player game in terms of cinematic quality and atmosphere. It's got a ton of issues end game though, guess we'll see if funcom can get their shit together before the mass of casual players get there.

And i'm pretty sure the free month doesn't start until post lvl 20 (as that's considered single player mode).
That will take up a good few days atleast, if you have a life

Loki, levels 40+ on aren't fun. In fact, sufficiently not fun to the extent I spent my weekend at the beach.

At Loki: Give it time, it took GW until the Summer to add Sorrow's Furnace- and before then there was literally NO 20+ content, and those tyrant quests never counted for jack shit.
Personally my beef doesn't lay with AoC's lack of high level content, anyone who's gotten to post 60 at this point really needs to rethink a few things. After all, some people actually enjoy the grind and HATED tortage, I wasn't one of them but anyone level 80 right now probably is. My beef with AoC lays with their costumer support, I haven't been able to log into my account for 2 days and they haven't given me a single e-mail as to why. Then again its been over the span of Friday Night -> Now, I've sent two petitions through their costumer support and received two tickets but no responses yet.
Yes these aren't business days, but I'd expect a bit more of them. I've already been banned for 24 hours once, and they gave me an e-mail for that. Just wondering why they haven't this time if I am indeed suspended again.
<--- Quite the trouble maker.

I already posted it earlier I think, but 40+ the problem isn't lack of content. The game itself appears to be in an early beta stage once you get there.
1. You get to 40 and think 'Wow I can be a crafter now!'. You pick up crafting professions, and they're as bugged as can be. You cannot advance alchemy to the next level because the mats required for the quests do not exist in game. Gemcutting actually crashes your game and such.
2. Before 40, I had issues with only one quest(wounded child in wildlands), after 40 there a lot of bugged quests.
3. Dungeons at higher levels simply don't drop loot.
4. Perhaps you were looking at the bottom tier feats and wondering how awesome it is? Most of the bottom tier feats are broken.
5. Needless to say guild cities not working is a major downer
etc
But having been a gamer for a very long time, I can say that the principles behind this game are strong. It was simply released far too soon because of various pressures. I'll probably level an alt slowly and play some single player games while they hopefully patch things up in the next few months

Btw there are 5 working raid zones. So it isn't that you'll get to 80 and there's nothing to do. There's just a lot of stuff including raids that are buggy

Anyone have a horse yet, and if so, how did you get enough money? I'm L37 with only about 50S out of 3G.

It's impossible to get it at 40 unless you spend dozens of hours farming resources and selling them. The best way is to get to 47(so that mobs are grey) and then solo farm Sanctum bosses for fast silver. Though a horse is 'cool', the level 40 horse is only a 20-25% speed increase, so you can do without it for a bit!

The principles are strong, but damn... I'm gonna have to say it. Having levelled to 44 .. the game is just broken in so many ways. Meaningless stats, skill points that do nothing. Some areas need optimising so badly it makes me want to mash the artist's faces into a keyboard. I'm not having any problems at all with finding quests in the mid 40's but I am getting increasingly cheesed off.
If this works this post pretty much sums up the nebulous armour level / broken stats. Add to that the moderation of the EU forums is getting to a silly stage where anyone who put the word "cancel" in a post with regards to their account gets deleted, whether it contains useful info, suggestions or just flame-bait. Emailing customer support does absolutely sweet FA and as for volunteer GMs, I can tell them where I'd like them to stick that.
I'm starting to consider switching to LotR Online till GW2 comes out.
Sab, I'm at 44 and have just under 70s. never bought a single thing from a trader and I try to pick up everything I can, including other people's discarded leftovers. 3 gold seems a long way off....
